I am enjoying listening to Jordan B. Peterson’s podcast at the moment. One of the things he talks about is the satisfaction we derive from moving towards a goal. He encourages people to set the highest possible goal they think they can attain, no matter how difficult, and moving towards it in incremental steps. He encourages people to aim for the highest good, and to bring order to the chaos of our world. He says that in doing this, in being open to corrections along the way, and by being honest in thought, word and action, we can go a long way to alleviating much of the suffering of our world, and to creating a bit more of heaven on earth.
My guest for this week, Will Dayble, is one of the people who I see embodying this way of being.
Will probably has many audacious goals, but two that I know about are to travel to Mars, and to make a quality alternative education financially accessible to the masses, which he is currently doing through the Fitzroy Academy.
From what I can tell both goals are having a profound impact on the way Will lives his life, and the decisions he makes each day. Everything he does is checked against whether they will help or hinder him moving towards his big goals.
I like the way this lifts his eyes, and gets him thinking about really difficult and challenging things. In turn, I think this also has a similar impact to those he interacts with. I know this was the case for me.
It has been through hearing Will talk about these kind of things that I have been prodded into thinking about where we are headed as a species, and how we can make an impact on the kind of world we will inhabit.
Will talks clearly and directly, and I hope you enjoy listening to our conversation.
If you enjoyed listening to Will you may also enjoy listening to Gus Hervey about how we can shape the future, and Eddie Harran on his big goal of changing the way we think about time.
