Subtle Disruption Studio

Learn to sense, decide, and adapt. A training program teaching the Subtle Disruptor method.

Many of the skills of the Subtle Disruptors approach to adaptive strategy can be learnt and applied by leaders within their organisation.

This for leaders who sense that default, linear approaches haven’t, and won’t, give them the insights and outcomes they are looking for. Insights and outcomes that are outside the standard frame. Those that will provide the spark for creating new levels of relevance.

Adam runs these interactive, learn-through-doing, sessions as part of the Subtle Disruptors Studio.

Studio sessions are available for in-house for leadership teams, or you can join a training session running now:

Insights for Adaptive Strategy

An experiential workshop to learn the skills of surfacing insights for your adaptive strategy

By its very nature strategy focuses on the future

Problems arise when we aim our strategy towards a target 5, 3 or even 2 years down the track - some imaginal place we think we can predict.

Goals are set and plans are made, based mostly on wishful thinking and rarely in reality

And if they are based in reality, it is the reality of a select few, often those who are most removed from what is happening on the ground; leaders who are unfairly expected to know it all and be able to predict what will happen.

We all seem to turn a blind eye, knowing that what we aspire to will never become a reality. Forging ahead with our planning anyway.

There is a better way.

Insights for strategy, done better

Of course we need to have some kind of "strong opinion, loosely held" view of a target we are pointed towards as we plot our trajectory.

But to pretend this is anything but a rough guide is deluding ourselves, and robbing ourselves of seeing the opportunities that are right in front of us.

There are latent insights hiding in plain sight. There are people within your organisation, and perhaps even outside your organisation, that have perspectives and experiences that can give you the edge.

People who are living the context at a grass roots level every day, and from this place can sense how things can get better.

And it can be done quickly and easily. Even enjoyably.

This is what the insights for adaptive strategy is all about.

Lightweight and repeatable process

The process of generating these insights is:

  • Fractal: it can be applied at different levels of the organisation and across different contexts

  • Actionable: it can be applied immediately, formulating responses to learn how to improve outcomes

  • Repeatable: learnings are fed back into the process to generate new insights

  • Nimble: actions that become irrelevant can be quickly stopped, and actions inspired by new insights quickly started

An experiential workshop to equip you with the skills

In this half-day training workshop I give you a practical experience of what drawing insights from across the organisation is like, and equip you with the knowhow to run this kind of process yourself.

You will develop the skills to be able to constantly tap into your reality and build a strategy that evolves with your changing environment.
